Error 25 is most commonly triggered by turning your bike on while your brakes are applied. On the RadCity Step-Thru, this error appears as an “Error 25” on the LCD screen.

Usually this error can be cleared by releasing both brake levers. In the unlikely case that the error persists, follow the steps below to narrow down which brake lever may be causing it.

Read through these instructions and contact Rad Power Bikes Product Support if you have questions. If you are not confident in your ability to successfully and safely perform all steps, we recommend having the work performed by a local, certified, and reputable bike mechanic.

1. Turn the bike OFF. Press the MODE button until the bike and LCD Display turn OFF. Use the battery key to unlock and remove the battery from the bike. Once the battery is removed, press and hold the MODE button on the LCD Display Remote until the LCD Display has remained off for a few seconds, to ensure the electrical system is fully off and safe for maintenance activities.

2. Locate the brake connectors. On the handlebar, and coming out of the end of each brake lever housing, is a brake cable. Follow one of the cables to the bulge in that cable, which is the brake connector.

3. Unplug one brake connector. Grab the two sides of the connection and carefully pull the connector directly apart without twisting. Pull from the connector and not directly on the cables. Once unplugged, the inside of the connection will be red.

4. Reinstall the battery. Carefully align and slide the battery onto the battery mounting tray and fully seat the connector. Use the key to lock the battery to the frame.

5. Turn the throttle OFF. Ensure the throttle is in the off position (with the throttle power button farther out than when pressed into the on position).

6. Turn the bike ON. Press and hold the MODE button until the bike and LCD Display turn on.

7. Turn pedal assist to Level 0. Press the down arrow to turn the Pedal Assist mode to level 0, effectively off. Ensure the LCD Display reads pedal assist level 0, "PAS 0."

8. Test if Error 25 appears. With the appropriate safety equipment and in a safe, open area, carefully ride the bike with no electrical assistance from the throttle or pedal assist, with the brake connector wire unplugged to see if Error 25 still shows up. The mechanical disc brakes on the bike should still slow and stop the bike properly even when the electrical connector is unplugged (as long as no power assistance is on).

9. Reconnect the brake connector. Dismount the bike and carefully align the notch and pins on the inside of the connector, and the small arrows on the outside of the connector. Carefully press the connector ends together without twisting, to insure proper and full connection.

10. Repeat steps 1-9 on the other brake connector.

11. Have your work inspected by a certified, reputable bike mechanic.
