RadCity Connector Check

When a connection between components on your bike comes loose, you'll likely experience an issue such as seeing an "Error 30" code on the display or the bike failing to power on. Making sure connections are secure is a great first step in troubleshooting and can help ensure that issues are resolved as quickly as possible, your bike runs smoothly, and remains safe and fun to ride.

Overview

The process of performing a connector check involves turning off the bike, locating a connector, unplugging the connector and inspecting it (taking photos of any signs of damage, if present), plugging it back in, turning on the bike, and checking if the Error 30 or other issue is resolved. If the issue is not resolved, turn off the bike (or ensure it is off), move to the next connector, and repeat those steps with the next connection.

As you work through this connector check, make note and take photos of any signs of moisture, debris, or damage to the connectors, and which connection(s) have become loose. If the issue persists after checking all connections, share the information and pictures with Rad Power Bikes Product Support for further assistance.

Gather tools you will need

  • Flat side cutters to snip zip ties that may prevent a connector from being unplugged or inspected,
  • A digital camera/camera phone to take photos for Product Support if you find any signs of damage,
  • A flat head screwdriver to help remove a cable opening grommet to allow easier access to a connector inside the frame (should you find it difficult to remove the connector through the grommet), and
  • Around 7 replacement zip ties to replace the zip ties you may need to remove.

Check these connectors first as they are most likely to cause a bike to not power on or an Error 30 to appear on the display.

Perform this process for each connection:

A. Turn OFF the bike. Press and hold the MODE button until the display turns off.

B. Locate the connector from the list above. Read the notes column for helpful and important details relevant to that particular connection.

C. Unplug the connector and inspect it (taking photos of any signs of damage, if present)

D. Plug it back in. Align the internal pins and notches and external arrows, and press directly together without twisting to connect.

E. Turn ON the bike. Press and hold the MODE button until the display turns on.

F. Checking if the Error 30 or other issue is resolved.

If the issue is not resolved, turn off the bike (or ensure it is off), move to the next connector, and repeat steps A-F.

If the issue is resolved, replace any zip ties and use flat side cutters to snip zip tie excess.

If after checking connections 1-7 the issue is not resolved, move to the connections 8-10 in the table below and repeat steps A-F. These connections are less likely to cause an Error 30 or power failure, but may help identify and/or solve those or other issues.

If the issue is resolved, replace any zip ties and use flat side cutters to snip zip tie excess. If the issue is not resolved after checking all 10 connections, or you find signs of moisture, debris, or damage while inspecting any connection, contact Rad Power Bikes Product Support.
